Contra Operation Galuga Review
Contra Operation Galuga Review
Contra Operation Galuga was developed by WayForward and published by Konami Digital Entertainment . So what does Contra Operation Galuga offer us? Does it have a structure that will satisfy nostalgia lovers? Our Contra Operation Galuga review article is published!
I consider myself lucky to have entered the gaming world with Atari. When Contra is mentioned, I'm sure the new generation of players will not be able to understand what this name means to us Atariers. Arcade games had a punishing structure due to their period. There was no option such as getting support on YouTube or reading tactical guides.
You had two options in front of you; You would either find a way to pass the section in question, or temporarily end your adventure there. Contra was one of the productions that punished me the most. This brutal run-'n'-gun action series was beloved by those strong enough to tame it, but I was not among that select few.
With the announcement of Contra Operation Galuga, I said it was time for rematch and rolled up my sleeves. "This time it's my turn!" I said.
The basic objective of the Contra series is pretty simple: run through each stage of the game and crush any soldier, robot, or alien that gets in your way. The whole setup is based on two muscular men shooting the bad guys and saving the day. The story is in a supporting position.
The gameplay elements that Contra Operation Galuga offers feel just the way you want, whether you're a veteran of the series or want to try something arcade-inspired. If you manage to run, double jump, and avoid bullets with your chosen elite super soldier, you'll be able to push our bad guys back in no time.
In Contra, every attack counts, so you need to make sure you're the one to make the first move. If you are not used to fast-paced games, prepare yourself to encounter the Game Over screen many times. Fans of the classic Contra games will feel right at home thanks to familiar levels. We have a production filled with the scent of nostalgia.
What makes Operation Galuga different from other games in the series is the weapon upgrades you can make to gain destructive power. You can upgrade by obtaining at least two of the same weapons. There are many ways to destroy the mutants, soldiers and robots that stand in your way, and you will need to master them all.
As can be seen from the promotional videos, Contra Operation Galuga can seem quite intimidating with its difficulty. But you don't have to worry because the WayForward team has added various difficulty options and settings to the game. Along with the classic difficulty options, you can also play in the traditional “one-hit-die mode” or choose to have a health bar and three hits per health. The choice is yours!
I was able to complete the game on normal difficulty with the health bar active. Yes, I was able to complete it! Finally…
A Perk Shop will be waiting for you where you can spend the credits obtained throughout the game and unlock new power-ups that will make your life easier as an elite warrior saving the world. Note that you can only equip two of the available power-ups at a time.
The best way to earn credits for the store is not by playing the main story, but by completing the challenges in the challenge mode. I loved the challenge sections because they force you to play sections with different rules from time to time. It is exciting that our struggle has moved to different dimensions.
There are a total of 8 chapters in Contra Operation Galuga. It will probably only take you a few hours to finish the game, even with a few Game Overs. However, this does not mean that the game is lacking in content. Don't describe 8 episodes as short. Arcade and Challenge mode offer great replayability. Especially the challenge mode is a mode that stands out with its challenging platforms.
You can shape your playing style according to the characters you will play. While they aren't very different, they each have a specific ability or two that you can use to succeed in your mission.
You can unlock more by beating the campaign mode again and again. To sum up our review article: Contra: Operation Galuga promises hours of fun with its modern graphics, levels, new enemy types, mechanics, and updated weapon system. The original run-'n'-gun game is back with a new face and invites you to join the adventure with an action-packed experience like never before.
